Keep Calm and Carry On

keep calm and carry on

You’ve probably seen the old British war poster with the words “Keep Calm and Carry On.” This poster (although never actually displayed in the UK) was created during a time of intense uncertainty. The British were preparing for potential air raids, invasion, or both. The message rings true today as wise words to follow during times of crisis. And we are certainly in crisis.

But take a look at another sign that WAS distributed during this same time period. While not as snappy or memorable, It reads “Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution Will Bring Us Victory.” That’s a lot to put on someone who is scared and totally unsure of the future!

your courage, your cheerfulness

And yet that’s exactly what is being asked of you in the fitness industry. And frankly, we don’t think there’s another group more apt to take on this role.

Think about it — you are quite possibly the best motivators in the lives of those who come to your gyms. You are constantly reiterating to your clients that they are stronger than they think they are, that there is value in overcoming pain, that they are worthy of extra effort.

You’ve always been courageous, cheerful, and resolute!

These are scary times. But what you are doing in this temporary new world order is helping all of us to victory.

Your clients are scared. But they see your courage as you modify hours, open up one-one one training sessions in the park, or deliver virtual programming and personal follow-up to make sure they are staying on track.

Your clients may have temporarily lost their smiles. But they see your cheerfulness as you post inspirational videos, send out kind text messages, and help them find ways to productively release energy and stress at home with their families.

Your clients are uneasy with what will happen in the future. But they see your resolution as you plow forward, get creative, and continue to deliver the exceptional service you’ve always given them, even if it is from a (social) distance.

Your courage, your cheerfulness, your resolution will bring us victory.”

In other words…keep doing what you’ve always done. And when it gets scary, or when you can’t think of a reason to smile, let us help you! We are here for you, really we are. We’ve always said that we’re all about changing the world for those who change the world (that’s you!). We’re in this together.
